About Our Client

Our client, a global home décor and lifestyle products manufacturer with design, sourcing, and production operations across China, is seeking an experienced Country Operations Manager to lead its China-based organization. This on-site leadership role oversees a team of 50+ professionals across design, product development, quality control, and production. The successful candidate will own the operational backbone of the China business by implementing scalable systems, improving accountability, optimizing processes, and serving as the operational bridge between the China organization and global leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations across the China office(s), overseeing a team of 50+ across design, product development, QC, and production functions.
• Build and implement KPIs across departments to measure performance and drive accountability.
• Design and roll out SOPs and standardized processes where none currently exist or where they're inconsistent.
• Establish reporting structures and management systems that give leadership real visibility into operations.
• Manage senior department heads and hold them accountable to output, not just activity.
• Act as the operational bridge between the China team and US/global leadership.
• Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks across the product development and production pipeline.
• Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and speed-to-market.

Requirements (Must-Have)

• 10+ years of senior operations or general management experience, including managing teams of 50+ people.
• Proven success building KPIs, SOPs, and operational management systems from the ground up or transforming existing ones.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• Experience in manufacturing, product development, sourcing operations, or related consumer products industries.
• Based in China and able to work on-site.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience developing and holding senior staff accountable.
• Comfortable operating autonomously while reporting to a US-based leadership team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a COO or General Manager within a manufacturing or consumer products company.
• Experience in home décor, textiles, furniture, or related industries.
• Familiarity with Western retail buyer expectations and compliance standards
