County Attorney

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated County Attorney to oversee legal matters within the county government. The successful candidate will provide legal advice to county officials, represent the county in legal proceedings, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires strong leadership, legal expertise, and a commitment to public service.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal counsel to the County Commissioners, Mayor, and other county officials, departments, and boards on various issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents.
• Represent the county in civil litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Ensure county operations comply with federal, state, and local laws.
• Advise on risk management and liability issues affecting the county.
• Stay current on relevant legal developments impacting local government operations.

Qualifications:

• Tennessee Law License.
• Haywood County resident preferred but not required.
• Proven experience in municipal or government law preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local government laws, procedures, and policies.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear guidance.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
