Courier

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Courier will ensure samples are delivered and/or picked up from doctor’s offices, laboratories, hospitals, courier offices, and the airport as necessary. The courier follows a designated route containing daily and will call locations. The courier is responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a professional demeanor with clients. The courier will follow all applicable laws and safety regulations. Proof of current auto insurance coverage is required. Daily routes will typically cover 150 miles per day, but the courier must have the ability to drive to multiple locations totaling up to 350 miles.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Ensure samples are delivered and/or picked up, as necessary.
• Be at the specified pick-up and/or drop off locations at the times specified, within reason.
• Ensure that all samples are safely and securely stored in the courier vehicle.
• Maintain accurate records, including vehicle logs, pick-up/drop off logs and client communications.
• Report any accidents, delays, or any other traffic and transportation situations for required follow-up by Supervisor.
• Respond to all calls or voicemails, in regards to pick-ups, missed pick-ups, for additional instructions.
• Maintain an accident and citation free record.
• Other duties may be assigned by Supervisor as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Miscellaneous projects identified by the incumbent as necessary or as assigned by supervisor.

EXTENT OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Immediate supervisor outlines assignments, but there is considerable room for independent action and judgment. After training, minimal direct supervision should be required for the person who is competently handling the routine essential functions of this position.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Education: High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must have valid driver’s license, insurance and clean driving record.
• Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills. Ability to work unsupervised with emphasis on punctuality.
• Experience: Previous driving experience preferred, one to three years of customer service experience preferred.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
