Job Description

ECI is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Environmental Field Technician to join our team full-time. This position requires frequent driving to various job sites, communicating with clients, collecting environmental samples, delivering samples to the laboratory, and collecting payments when necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the flexibility to work on a variety of projects. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent driving, changing schedules, occasional overtime, and weekend assignments.

This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to remain available and productive during their scheduled work hours, even when there are no field jobs scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Drive to and from various job sites throughout the assigned service area.
• Meet with homeowners, property managers, contractors, and other clients professionally.
• Collect environmental samples according to company procedures and training.
• Deliver collected samples to the appropriate laboratory in a timely manner.
• Collect client payments when required.
• Complete accurate field notes, photographs, documentation, and job-related paperwork.
• Maintain and organize testing equipment and supplies.
• Communicate with the office regarding job updates, scheduling, and client concerns.
• Follow company procedures, safety requirements, and instructions.
• Attend required paid training, annual refresher courses, and applicable certification programs.
• Provide professional customer service and represent ECI positively at all job sites.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid California driver's license required.
• Good driving record.
• Reliable, fuel-efficient four-cylinder vehicle preferred.
• Willingness to drive frequently and travel between multiple job sites.
• Ability to arrive at job sites on time and be fit for duty.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate notes and follow instructions.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules.
• Availability for occasional overtime and weekend assignments.

Work Schedule and Availability

• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday through Friday 9am-5:30pm, with availability every other weekend as needed.
• Shift Length: Typically 8–10 hours.
• Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required.
• Weekend Work: Occasional weekend assignments are expected.
• Schedule Flexibility: Employees may occasionally be contacted to return to work after arriving home if an additional job arises and their assistance is needed.

Employees are expected to complete their scheduled work hours even when there are no field assignments. During downtime, employees may be assigned other work-related duties by management.

Uniform and Equipment Expectations

ECI provides the required company shirt. Employees must wear the required uniform, including appropriate work pants and work boots.

When clocked in, employees must be dressed in their required uniform, prepared to work, and have all necessary equipment ready. Employees are expected to be ready to depart for a job site within 15 minutes of receiving a job assignment.

All equipment must be kept organized, maintained, and ready for use.

Pay and Benefits

• Hourly Pay: $22.00 per hour.
• Company Gas Card: Provided for work-related fuel expenses, subject to company policy.
• Drive-Time Compensation: Compensation provided for qualifying drive time beyond the first 50 miles, in accordance with company policy.
• Paid Training: Training, annual refresher courses, and applicable job-related certification opportunities.
• Professional Development: Hands-on experience in environmental testing and consulting.
