Silcoates is a successful independent co-educational day school with a long and proud history. We achieve excellent academic results and offer a broad and stimulating variety of co-curricular activities. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Senior School in the varied role of Cover Supervisor and PE Assistant.

The school is set in 50 acres of grounds in Wrenthorpe, near Wakefield, within easy reach of the M1 and M62, offering an all-through, fully co-educational day school experience for children from 3 to 18. Sport is an important part of our school, with numerous opportunities for our pupils to get involved both on a regular basis and for specific teams and fixtures.

The role will include providing short term cover for classroom lessons in the event of teaching staff absence, and also supporting Games and PE lessons. We offer a diverse range of sports, with plenty of opportunity to be involved no matter what your sport of choice is, and have excellent facilities. There are opportunities to be involved in other aspects of the life of the School, depending on your interests and skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in the education sector in a similar role in a friendly and supportive environment. You should have an understanding of classroom management and be a confident communicator with an enthusiasm for working with young people. You should have strong administrative skills and be able to work as part of a small team. You should have strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate confidently with a range of staff, parents and pupils; and an interest in working in the independent school sector, experience of leading sports teams or coaching is an advantage.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the ethos and aims of the School and a commitment to co-curricular activities. Given the nature of school sports clubs and fixtures, a willingness to work hours outside of the standard school day, including Saturdays and evenings, is needed.
