Job Advert Summary

To safely and efficiently operate, build and maneuver 400-ton and 500-ton mobile cranes in accordance with South African occupational health and safety legislation, applicable machinery regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements, ensuring the protection of people, property, and equipment while delivering a professional and reliable service to clients.

Minimum Requirements

Matric or Equivalent

5 – 7 years’ large crane operation experience with proven track record

Valid Driver’s licence – Code C essential

Valid Mobile Crane Operator certification – Code C35 essential

Medical certificate of fitness

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety checks on cranes as per the check sheet
• Report all shortcomings and defects to Supervisor / Operations Manager as soon as they’re identified
• Drive and mobilise the 400ton & 500ton cranes to worksites as instructed by the Supervisor or Operations Manager.
• Lead &/or facilitate full site establishment, including building of cranes, mobilization, site surveys and risk assessments in compliance with client procedures and requirements along with safety standards
• Ensure ground conditions, outrigger placement, and exclusion zones are safe and compliant.
• Operate the crane according to OEM specification with due regard for safety parameters
• Comply with company safety policies, site-specific safety rules, permit systems, and method statements.
• Stop work and report immediately if any unsafe condition arises.
• Maintain valid medical fitness and operator certification.
• Represent the company professionally when on client sites.
• Communicate clearly and courteously with clients, supervisors, riggers, and other site personnel.
• Assist with resolving on-site operational issues in a cooperative and solution-focused manner.
• Maintain the crane in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Assist Sales Representatives with site surveys as required.
• Mentor and coach new crane operators
• Ensure the timesheets, further applicable documents and the signed contract is returned to the operations department timeously.
• Complete timesheets and further applicable documents to be signed off by the client on a daily basis.
• Move the crane if so instructed by the client.
• Contact the operations manager / supervisor immediately if running late or unable to operate for any reason whatsoever.
• Obay client rules and regulations as per client sites.
