Are you an experienced Crawler Crane Operator looking for your next long-term opportunity? At Mammoet, our crane operators play a vital role in delivering some of the world’s most complex engineering and heavy lift projects. As a Crawler Crane Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, preparation and maintenance of crawler cranes across a range of heavy lift and transport projects. You’ll work as part of an experienced site team, helping to deliver lifting operations safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a full-time, permanent position based at our Teesside office. Regular travel throughout the UK will be required, with opportunities to work on major and technically challenging projects.

We’re looking for operators who want to build a long-term career with Mammoet. We invest heavily in training and development, giving our people the opportunity to expand their skills, qualifications and experience across our specialist lifting operations.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Mobilization and demobilization of the assigned crane in relevant configuration

  • Positioning and repositioning the load
  • Performing periodic preventative and routine maintenance
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and effectively

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Operating crawler cranes safely and efficiently across a range of heavy lift and specialist lifting projects.
  • Carrying out pre-start checks and maintaining the external and technical condition of assigned cranes, equipment and materials.
  • Preparing crawler cranes for operation, including assembly and dismantling, track installation, counterweight and ballast installation, boom configuration, reeving and connection of safety systems, in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
  • Supporting crane mobilisation, demobilisation and site moves where required.
  • Working closely with Supervisors, Slinger/Signallers and lifting teams to ensure lifting operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Following lifting plans, method statements and site instructions for every operation.
  • Driving or moving crawler cranes and associated equipment to and from work areas where required and authorised.
  • Identifying and reporting defects, damage or maintenance requirements.
  • Complying with all company, customer and site safety procedures and contributing to a strong safety culture.

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

  • Valid Blue CPCS card with the relevant crawler crane categories.
  • Proven experience operating crawler cranes, ideally on heavy lift, major construction, infrastructure, energy or industrial projects.
  • Experience with crawler crane assembly, dismantling, configuration and preparation for lifting operations.
  • A strong understanding of safe lifting practices and crane operations.
  • Good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Valid UK driving licence, including Category C1E.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on heavy lift and transport projects.
  • Experience operating large-capacity crawler cranes.
  • CPCS Slinger/Signaller qualification.
  • Knowledge of LOLER, BS 7121 and other relevant lifting standards.
  • Experience working on complex or multi-crane lifting projects.
  • Additional lifting, plant or mechanical qualifications.
