Creative Associate - Apparel

About the role

The Creative Associate – Merchandising (Designer / Merchandiser) is responsible for developing apparel products from concept to production. This role balances design, functionality, cost, and market needs while working closely with suppliers, production, and internal teams to ensure products are on-trend, commercially viable, and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Create apparel designs, colorways, trims, and graphics aligned with brand direction.
• Prepare design sketches, tech packs, spec sheets, and artwork for production.
• Review samples (proto, fit, pre-production, and production) and provide clear revision feedback.
• Conduct fittings and recommend improvements on fit, construction, and materials.
• Develop product assortments based on market trends, target customers, and pricing strategy.
• Ensure designs meet target cost, margin, and retail price requirements.
• Analyze sales data, trends, and customer feedback to refine product direction.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding sampling, materials, costing, and timelines.
• Track sample progress, production schedules, and shipment timelines.
• Coordinate with merchandising, planning, marketing, operations, and sales teams.

About you

• Graduate of Clothing Technology, Fine Arts, Multimedia Arts, Fashion Design, Merchandising, or related field.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in the garment or apparel industry; experience in apparel design and/or merchandising is a plus.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fit.
• Knowledge of costing, sampling, and production processes.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects.
• Proficient in design and documentation tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Excel).
• Team player with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
