We’re Country Lane Group — We are a leading Canterbury hospitality group built around fresh, made-from-scratch food, quality ingredients and warm, down-to-earth service.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented, creative and experienced Baker to join our team.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply follow the same production list every day. We want someone who genuinely loves the craft — someone who can produce exceptional desserts, pastries, cakes and sweet creations while bringing fresh ideas and imagination to everything they make.

You’ll be producing for our soon-to-open venue The Residence, supplying selected Country Lane Group cafés and contracts across Canterbury, and creating desserts for KiwiRail’s Great Journeys of New Zealand.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on production role with plenty of room to make your mark.

One day you might be creating artisan breads and beautifully laminated pastries, the next developing creative desserts for KiwiRail’s Great Journeys New Zealand, where your imagination and creativity can really shine.

Then there are danishes, scrolls, slices, cakes, tarts, sweet treats, cabinet creations and seasonal specials — you name it, we make it.

We’re looking for someone who gets excited about taking an idea and turning it into something people genuinely want to eat.

You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with flavours, textures and presentation, develop new products, follow emerging food trends and put your own creative stamp on the range.

As Country Lane Group continues to grow, so will the opportunities to create.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Proven experience in bread, pastry and bakery production, whether commercial or artisan
• Strong pastry and dough skills with an understanding of consistent production
• Creativity and flair for developing both classic favourites and exciting new products
• Confidence creating desserts, cakes, slices, pastries and sweet offerings
• A genuine eye for quality, flavour and presentation
• Strong organisation and the ability to manage a varied production schedule
• High standards around food safety, cleanliness and consistency
• The ability to work independently while being part of a wider team
• A passion for experimenting, innovating and staying ahead of food and baking trends

Above all, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and gets a genuine buzz from creating something exceptional.
