What they need
Key Responsibility:
1 - Brand Vision & Artistic Direction
Lead the overarching creative vision for the brand in the China market, partnering closely with the Global Creative Director to translate the global brand strategy into locally resonant narratives. Define and safeguard a distinctive "Chow Tai Fook aesthetic"—a consistent visual and emotional language that elevates the brand from a jewelry retailer to a cultural icon recognized for its heritage, craftsmanship, and storytelling depth.
2 - Cultural Strategy & Talent Curation
Act as the brand’s cultural antenna. Proactively monitor macro-trends in art, fashion, design, and popular culture to identify opportunities for brand relevance. Cultivate relationships with top-tier agencies, production houses, and independent artists globally. Recommend and secure high-profile creative partners (directors, photographers, stylists, artists) whose creative vision aligns with the brand’s luxury positioning and budget parameters, building a robust talent network for future projects.
3 - Creative Production Leadership:
The Creative Director leads the creative execution from concept to completion
- Concept Development: Defines the creative brief, mood boards, and visual direction for all campaigns, ensuring they are strategically sound and emotionally compelling.
- Vendor Oversight: Briefs and directs external production partners to ensure the final output adheres to the creative vision, brief, and timeline.
- Team Management: Organizes and manages the workflow of the internal creative team (designers, copywriters, art buyers), ensuring alignment on project specifications.
- On-Set Direction: Travels to shoot locations within China and overseas to provide on-set creative direction, ensuring the highest quality of production value and fidelity to the concept.
- Cross-functional Integration: Works seamlessly with the Project Manager on logistics (shipping, casting, scouting, travel) to ensure the creative vision is feasible within the operational framework.
4 - Budget & Schedule Stewardship
While the Project Manager handles the bottom line, the Creative Director is responsible for ensuring the creative ambition is achieved within the allocated resources. They are accountable for negotiating creative fees (director, photographer, talent, licensing) in Chow Tai Fook’s best interest. They present the creative production timeline to the Project Manager and take ownership of delivering all creative assets on schedule.
5 - Legal & Rights Administration
Collaborates with the legal team and Project Manager to oversee the signing and negotiation of copyright transfer agreements, usage rights, and talent contracts. Ensures the brand secures the necessary rights for all creative assets across all channels, both now and in perpetuity.
6 - Cross-functional & Organizational Leadership
- Mentorship: Trains and develops junior creative talent, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and growth.
- Collaboration: Participates in cross-functional discussions regarding international sourcing, subsidiary collaboration, and talent sharing, ensuring the creative perspective is represented in broader business decisions.
- Team Culture: Champions a supportive, team-oriented environment that encourages bold ideas, mutual respect, and a "one-team" mindset that goes beyond immediate departmental priorities.
Purpose of the Role:
- To be the creative engine of the brand, driving high-impact, original campaigns that capture attention and define Chow Tai Fook’s visual identity in the market.
- To curate a world-class network of creative partners who consistently deliver innovative and beautiful work that resonates with both new and loyal customers.
- To elevate the brand's storytelling, ensuring every piece of communication is a testament to our aesthetic leadership and artistic integrity.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a senior creative leadership role (Creative Director, Associate Creative Director) at a premium/luxury brand, top-tier advertising agency, or design studio. Extensive experience in fashion, jewelry, or beauty campaigns is essential.
- Creative Prowess: A distinguished portfolio showcasing a strong, unique point of view, exceptional visual taste, and mastery of storytelling across all media (photography, film, digital, print, social).
- Cultural Fluency: Deep awareness of Chinese and international artistic, cultural, and consumer trends, with an established network of industry contacts.
- Strategic & Commercial: Possesses a sharp business acumen; understands how powerful creativity drives commercial results and brand equity.
- Leadership & Influence: Skilled at managing, inspiring, and coordinating diverse teams and high-profile stakeholders. A natural leader who brings contagious enthusiasm and conviction to every project.
- Organizational Discipline: Demonstrated experience managing complex production schedules and budgets without compromising creative quality. Hands-on and versatile, able to juggle multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously.
- Communication: A persuasive and articulate communicator, fluent in both English and Mandarin. An excellent listener who builds trust and motivates partners to deliver their best work.
- Attitude: Flexible, curious, open-minded, and proactive in offering innovative solutions. A resilient problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Language: Fluent in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential. Cantonese is a plus.
