Creative Web Experiences Frontend Developer

Responsibilities:

• Develop visually rich websites and interactive pages, including editorial experiences, campaign sites, and immersive digital stories.
• Create purposeful motion, transitions, scroll-based animations, and micro-interactions using tools such as GSAP, alongside native browser capabilities.
• Build interactive 3D and WebGL experiences using Three.js or comparable technologies.
• Collaborate with designers from concept through delivery, shaping ideas, prototyping interactions, and assessing technical feasibility.
• Translate designs into responsive interfaces with close attention to typography, composition, spacing, and visual detail.
• Optimize animation, rendering, and asset loading to deliver smooth experiences across desktop and mobile devices.
• Ensure accessibility is integral to the experience, including keyboard navigation, reduced-motion preferences, and suitable alternatives to complex visual interactions.
• Build reusable components and motion patterns that help teams deliver consistent experiences efficiently.
• Maintain production-quality code through testing, code reviews, documentation, and sound architectural decisions.
• Mentor other developers and help raise the quality of frontend engineering and creative execution.

Requirements:

• Significant professional experience in frontend development, with ownership of complex websites or digital experiences from concept to production.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating highly visual web pages, sophisticated motion, and interactive experiences.
• Excellent knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, semantic HTML, modern CSS, and responsive design.
• Strong practical experience with GSAP and Three.js, including knowing when simpler CSS or native browser techniques are more appropriate.
• Strong experience with Angular, including integrating rich animation and interactive visual experiences into maintainable, component-based applications. Experience with other frontend frameworks, such as React or Vue, is also valued.
• A well-developed understanding of animation principles, including timing, easing, sequencing, and how motion supports usability and storytelling.
• Strong performance debugging skills, including identifying rendering bottlenecks and managing the cost of imagery, video, animation, and 3D assets.
• Experience integrating content management systems and APIs into production websites.
• The ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues across design, content, product, and engineering.
• Experience with interactive data visualisation for the web would be an advantage.
