Credentialed Medical Coder -- General Surgical

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified Credentialed Coder to join our healthcare team. This role primarily involves physician billing coding for general surgery, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation of medical procedures and diagnoses. The Credentialed Coder plays a vital part in the revenue cycle, supporting efficient billing processes and maintaining high standards of coding accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform physician billing coding by reviewing medical records, documentation, and reports to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure all coding complies with current industry standards, regulations, and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing teams to clarify documentation as needed for accurate coding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
• Review and audit coded claims for accuracy before submission to minimize denials or delays.
• Support the billing process by providing precise codes that facilitate timely reimbursement.
• Keep detailed records of coding activities and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Assist in resolving any coding-related issues that may arise during the billing cycle.

Requirements

• Certification as a Credentialed Coder (such as CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent).
• Proven experience in physician billing coding or similar healthcare coding roles.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records (EHR) systems and billing software.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure coding accuracy.
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into correct codes.
• Good communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and billing staff.
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Pay: $20.00 - $33.00 per hour
