What they need
Greysilver is a specialist recruitment consultancy operating across Insurance, Banking & Finance, Legal, Energy & Engineering, and Technology. We partner with leading organisations and high-calibre professionals to make placements that matter.
About the Job
Our client, an award-winning global specialty insurer, is hiring a Credit Risk Analyst to join its team in Sydney. The team issues surety bonds to mid-market and large corporates as an alternative to bank guarantees. The underwriting is credit-led, so this is a credit analysis role at its core, sitting inside an insurance business.
You will build financial models, assess counterparty credit risk and produce the credit papers that drive limit and rating decisions across the region. You will get direct exposure to senior underwriters and the regional Head of Surety, and you will join client and broker meetings where appropriate.
This role suits a credit or financial analyst from banking, insurance or corporate finance who wants a clear path into specialty underwriting. Surety is a niche, well-regarded discipline, and analysts who perform here are well placed to progress into underwriting roles.
Responsibilities
- Analyse the credit risk of existing portfolio clients and new business opportunities across Asia-Pacific
- Interpret financial statements and identify the key risks and drivers at company and industry level
- Build financial models and apply both quantitative and qualitative judgement, going beyond standard ratio analysis
- Prepare credit and meeting reports with clear underwriting recommendations for senior underwriters and the Head of Surety
- Draft surety credit documentation, including limit and rating recommendations
- Track market, industry and credit news through external data providers and brief the team on emerging risks
- Join client and broker meetings, supporting a high standard of underwriting service
- Maintain accurate portfolio files and documentation in line with underwriting guidelines
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline (essential)
- 2+ years' experience in banking, financial services, insurance or credit
- Strong financial statement analysis and credit assessment skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability
- Clear, concise written communication, particularly in credit reporting
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Exposure to surety, bank guarantees, trade credit or corporate lending is highly regarded
What's On Offer
- Competitive remuneration package
- Genuine career development and progression pathways
- Collaborative and high-performance team culture
- Work with market-leading clients and mandates
- Dedicated consultant support throughout your process
