Role Overview
Rupezi is looking for an experienced Credit Manager to independently manage end-to-end credit underwriting for its short-term personal loan portfolio.
The role requires strong credit judgment, detailed assessment of customer financial behaviour, and the ability to identify fraud and repayment risks while maintaining quick turnaround times. The incumbent will be responsible for making high-quality credit decisions in line with defined policies, risk appetite, and approval authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently assess and underwrite loan applications in accordance with approved credit policies, eligibility criteria, risk parameters, and approval matrices.
- Review and validate KYC documents, bureau reports, bank statements, salary/income proofs, employment details, existing obligations, and other supporting documents.
- Analyse customer repayment capacity, income stability, existing leverage, recent borrowings, repayment behaviour, and overall creditworthiness.
- Take appropriate approve, reject, or refer/escalate decisions within assigned credit authority.
- Identify potential fraud indicators, document inconsistencies, income manipulation, undisclosed liabilities, suspicious transactions, and other adverse credit signals.
- Conduct detailed analysis of CIBIL/credit bureau reports, including active loans, enquiries, repayment history, DPDs, settlements/write-offs, and recent credit-seeking behaviour.
- Analyse bank statements for salary consistency, cash-flow behaviour, loan credits and repayments, bounce/return patterns, existing EMI obligations, and unusual transactions.
- Ensure appropriate credit decisions while maintaining agreed Turnaround Time (TAT) and supporting business volumes.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to obtain clarifications or additional documents required for completion of credit assessment.
- Ensure every sanction is supported by adequate documentation and a clearly recorded credit rationale.
- Adhere strictly to company credit policies, SOPs, underwriting controls, fraud-prevention processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Highlight policy deviations, emerging risk patterns, fraud trends, and other portfolio concerns to the relevant stakeholders.
- Review delinquency and repayment trends to identify underwriting gaps and recommend improvements in credit rules or processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting processes, credit policies, fraud controls, and customer assessment methodologies.
