CREDIT OFFICER

Generation Capital Limited is seeking a competent and results-driven Credit Analyst Officer to join our team in Port Harcourt. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing loan applications, evaluating borrowers' creditworthiness, monitoring loan portfolios, managing credit risks, and recovering overdue loans.

The ideal candidate must have proven experience in credit analysis and debt recovery within the financial services sector, alongside strong analytical, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Review loan applications, conduct credit checks, and assess applicants' creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
• Analyse applicants' financial information, credit history, and supporting documentation to identify potential risks.
• Make recommendations on loan approvals, rejections, and credit limits in line with company policies.
• Monitor loan portfolios and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely repayment.
• Contact customers through phone calls, emails, and field visits to recover outstanding loans.
• Negotiate repayment plans with delinquent customers and monitor compliance with agreed repayment schedules.
• Identify high-risk accounts and escalate cases requiring further management or legal intervention.
• Maintain accurate records of credit assessments, loan performance, customer engagements, and recovery activities.
• Prepare periodic reports on credit risk, overdue accounts, and debt recovery performance.
• Ensure compliance with internal lending policies, credit control procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with relevant departments to support efficient loan processing and effective recovery operations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, preferably within a financial institution, microfinance bank, lending company, or consumer finance organisation.
• Demonstrated experience in credit assessment, loan administration, credit control, collections, or debt recovery.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a target-driven environment.

Salary and Benefits

• Monthly salary of ₦130,000 – ₦180,000, depending on experience and suitability.
• Transport allowance.
• Airtime allowance.
• Other benefits as determined by management.
