What they need
Credit Risk Analyst, Commodities Trading (Energy & Metals) | Singapore
Kepler Search is partnering with a leading commodities trading house on Credit Risk Analyst opportunity in Singapore.
These roles manage each firm's credit exposure to its trading counterparties across energy and metals. You'll assess who the business can trade with, on what terms, and with what protection, keeping exposure within risk appetite while supporting the commercial teams to do business.
You'll work closely with trading, operations, legal and senior management. You need to be analytical enough to build a sound credit view, and confident enough to defend it.
What the roles involve
- Fundamental credit analysis on counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors
- Recommending and setting credit limits with the trading desk, structuring documentation and risk mitigants such as LCs, SBLCs, parent company guarantees and credit insurance
- Monitoring counterparty risk through financials, share prices, CDS spreads and market news, and reporting material changes to senior management promptly
- Assessing the credit implications of transactions and counterparty events, including debt and equity activity
- Building and managing credit relationships with counterparties
- Supporting credit risk frameworks and policies, and making sure processes follow them
Background
- Around 3–7 years in credit risk or credit analysis within a commodity trading house, energy or metals company, or a bank (commodity finance, corporate or FI credit)
- Strong financial statement analysis and credit writing skills
- Understanding of trade credit mitigants and how counterparty exposure arises in physical and financial trading
- Comfortable working within delegated authorities and presenting a view to senior stakeholders
- Exposure to oil, gas or metals counterparties is a strong plus
Who thrives here
- Meticulous, with strong attention to detail
- Takes ownership and comes with solutions, not just problems
- Adapts quickly when markets or counterparties move
