Rapid Crewing provides reliable, professional and hardworking event crew to support the delivery of events across the UK.

We work across a variety of events, including corporate events, festivals, concerts, exhibitions, conferences and private functions.

Our aim is to provide clients with a dependable workforce that takes pride in delivering high standards, working safely and representing Rapid Crewing professionally.

About the Role

We are looking for confident, reliable and motivated individuals to join Rapid Crewing as Event Crew Chiefs.

As a Crew Chief, you will be responsible for leading a team of event crew while remaining actively involved in the physical setup, operation and dismantling of events.

Alongside carrying out normal Event Crew duties, you will act as the main point of contact between Rapid Crewing’s crew and the client’s production team, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

You will be responsible for coordinating your team, communicating instructions, monitoring progress and reporting back to Rapid Crewing’s Duty Management team following each shift.

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys working in the events industry, taking responsibility and getting the best out of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Event Crew Duties
  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles, including trucks and vans.
  • Move, position and organise event equipment safely.
  • Assist production teams with the installation and dismantling of staging, lighting, sound, video and other event equipment.
  • Support event setups, changeovers and de-rigs.
  • Maintain clean, organised and safe working environments.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, including manual handling requirements.
  • Carry out general event crew duties alongside the team as required.
  1. Crew Management & Leadership
  • Take responsibility for the crew assigned to your shift.
  • Conduct a team briefing at the beginning of each shift, outlining responsibilities, expectations and safety information.
  • Allocate tasks to individual crew members based on instructions from the production team.
  • Ensure all crew members understand their responsibilities.
  • Monitor the team’s progress throughout the shift.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a professional standard.
  • Support new or inexperienced crew members where required.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful and productive working environment.
  • Address minor issues within the team and escalate serious concerns to Duty Management.
  • Lead by example, maintaining a professional attitude throughout the shift.
  1. Client & Production Team Communication
  • Act as the main point of contact for the client’s production team regarding crew activities.
  • Liaise with Production Managers, Stage Managers, Site Managers and other relevant personnel.
  • Receive instructions from the production team and communicate these clearly to the crew.
  • Provide regular updates on progress and task completion.
  • Communicate any delays, difficulties or additional crew requirements.
  • Ensure the team follows the client’s instructions and site-specific procedures.
  • Represent Rapid Crewing professionally and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
  1. Health & Safety
  • Ensure crew members follow site safety procedures and instructions.
  • Encourage safe manual handling and equipment movement.
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe working practices or damaged equipment.
  • Stop unsafe activities where necessary and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn.
  • Report accidents, incidents and near misses promptly.
  • Ensure crew members only undertake tasks they are trained, competent and authorised to complete.
  1. Shift Management & Reporting
  • Confirm crew attendance at the beginning of each shift.
  • Identify and report any lateness, absence or staffing issues.
  • Monitor crew breaks and working hours.
  • Keep Duty Management informed of significant issues throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all assigned duties have been completed before releasing crew, subject to the agreed shift arrangements.
  • Complete and submit an end-of-shift report to Rapid Crewing’s Duty Management team.

End-of-shift reports should include:

  • Event name, location and shift date.
  • Crew attendance and actual working hours.
