Cropping Operator

Seeking a proactive leader to support daily cropping operations in Hagley and Northwest Tasmania

We are looking for a dedicated individual to support cropping operations at our farm business.

This is a hands-on role. Reporting to the Director and working with the rest of the cropping staff, you will support the growing of all crops in our business - ground preparation, planting, crop management (incl. irrigation, spraying and spreading, crop scouting) and harvest.

This role is ideal for someone with farm hand and cropping experience experience who enjoys being strategic, practical and part of a team.

About the Company

Cloud Agricultural is an agriculture business focused on brassica (broccoli and broccolini) production in Tasmania. Our main site is in the Wesley Vale area, but work will also be required in the Hagley area.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·        Safe operations of agricultural farm machinery

·        Land preparation and planting management (including but not limited to ground preparation, land cultivation, seeding, spreading)

·        Support of all brassica crop operations, including planting, growth, harvest preparations, harvest and logistics

·        Monitoring crops to facilitate irrigation requirements, unusual diseases or signs of pests in plants and harvest forecasting

·        Irrigation support

·        Spraying and spreading support

·        Ground preparation and seeding support

·        Setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimisation of precision agriculture technology across the fleet; primary technical expert for auto-steer systems, GPS receivers, field mapping, and variable rate technology, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency during critical operations

·        General tractor and work vehicle maintenance

·        General farm maintenance

·        Safe chemical use under supervision

·        Trucking

·        Liaising with Director, Farm Hands, Harvest Workers, Administration and Shed Leads as required

·        Adherence with all WHS policies and procedures and support of WHS initiatives as required

Requirements

3-5 years cropping experience required (vegetable cropping preferred).

Drivers licence required.

ChemCert preferred.

MR/HR/MC truck licence preferred.

Fork lift licence preferred.
