Cross-functional Production Shift Lead
About us:
Vestatec is an innovative design and manufacturing company based in Colwick, Nottingham. Under the ownership of Ash & Lacy Group we have exciting plans for future growth and expansion.
We specialise in high-quality decorative interior components for premium and luxury automotive brands including Volvo, Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce.
Due to expansion, we are looking to introduce an extended shift across some of our departments.
The role:
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this is a versatile, hands-on role within the production team designed to support floor operations across all departments.
You will provide flexible operational cover across the factory—producing components, changing press tools, supporting in the warehouse when required, and helping to produce quality parts in the PVD during the afternoon shift.
A core requirement is a strong, practical mechanical mindset. You must be comfortable troubleshooting and fixing equipment when things break, ensuring factory lines run with minimal downtime.
This is a full-time position of 37.5 paid hours per week working 10:00 – 18:00 (including daily lock-up). Salary is £32,000 per annum.
Who this role suits:
This role would suit someone who is reliable, practical, and switched on, with a strong work ethic and a good attitude. We are looking for someone who takes pride in turning up on time, doing the job properly, learning quickly, and working well as part of a team. If you are dependable, quality-focused, comfortable using basic computer systems, and happy to get stuck in across multiple factory areas, this could be a great fit.
Candidate key tasks:
- Strong mechanical mindset
- Press tool setting and tool handling experience
- Self-motivated, keen to work, and constantly looking for ways to improve processes
- Great attention to detail and high-quality standards
- Good communicator who works well alongside established department leads
- Comfortable with shop floor admin and using MRP systems to book production
- Reliable, conscientious, and proactive attitude to tasks
Duties:
- Reporting daily to the Production Manager and deputising when unavailable
- Providing first-response mechanical troubleshooting, diagnosing breakdowns, repairing, and rebuilding equipment
- Performing press tool changes, tool setting and running the presses for production of parts
- Working alongside the PVD Lead to assist with running the PVD department from 12:00 through to 18:00
- Assisting and covering other production areas as required to maintain throughput
- Looking proactively for ways to streamline operations and improve working practices
- Promoting best practices and maintaining high 5S standards across the department
- Logging production data, scrap rates, and stock movements in the MRP system
- Locking up the factory at the 18:00 finish
Role benefits:
- Salary: £32,000 per annum
- 37.5 paid hours per week (10:00 – 18:00)
- 25 days holiday entitlement
- Clean, modern working environment with complimentary hot drinks
Pay: £32,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Canteen
