What they need
AegisQ Technologies Inc.
AegisQ Technologies is developing next-generation cybersecurity technologies designed to help organizations prepare for the transition to post-quantum security.
We are looking for a Cryptographic Engineer to join our engineering team and help build production-grade cryptographic infrastructure spanning classical, post-quantum, and hybrid security architectures.
This is an opportunity to work on difficult, security-critical engineering problems at the intersection of applied cryptography, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and post-quantum computing.
The Opportunity
As a Cryptographic Engineer, you will help turn cryptographic specifications and security requirements into reliable, testable production systems.
You will work with modern cryptographic protocols and libraries while helping develop the foundations for quantum-resistant security. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable reading a cryptographic specification, writing production C/C++ or Python, reviewing security-sensitive code, and automating infrastructure.
You should be curious, rigorous, and comfortable operating in an environment where correctness and security matter as much as speed of development.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement production-grade cryptographic components and backend services.
- Develop secure software primarily in Python and C/C++; Rust experience is a plus.
- Implement and integrate TLS 1.3, SSH, X.509/PKI, certificate management, and cryptographic key-management capabilities.
- Work with HSMs and cloud KMS platforms to support secure key generation, storage, rotation, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
- Integrate and evaluate cryptographic libraries including OpenSSL, BoringSSL, and liboqs.
- Develop and test classical, post-quantum, and hybrid cryptographic implementations.
- Work with NIST post-quantum standards, including:
- FIPS 203 — ML-KEM
- FIPS 204 — ML-DSA
- FIPS 205 — SLH-DSA
- Contribute to hybrid key-exchange and crypto-agility architectures designed to support migration from classical to post-quantum cryptography.
- Identify and mitigate implementation risks including timing attacks, side channels, unsafe key handling, weak randomness, and incorrect cryptographic API usage.
- Build automated infrastructure and deployment workflows using Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop fixture-driven, integration, regression, and property-based tests.
- Support reproducible builds and software-supply-chain security.
- Participate actively in architecture discussions and rigorous code reviews.
- Translate detailed technical specifications into secure, maintainable implementations.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering architecture, implementation decisions, security assumptions, testing, and operational procedures.
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 3+ years of professional experience building production backend, security, or infrastructure software.
- Strong Python and C/C++ programming skills.
- Hands-on experience with applied cryptography.
- Experience with multiple areas of:
- TLS 1.3
- SSH
- X.509
- PKI
- Certificate Authorities
- Key management
- HSMs
- Cloud KMS
- Experience with cryptographic libraries such as OpenSSL, BoringSSL, or liboqs.
- Understanding of cryptographic implementation pitfalls, including side-channel vulnerabilities and constant-time programming.
- Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography and NIST standards, or demonstrated ability to learn and implement them rapidly.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and CI/CD environments.
- Strong automated-testing practices.
- Ability to work from detailed written specifications.
- Strong code-review and technical-writing skills.
- Excellent written English.
Nice to Have
- Rust development experience.
- Experience implementing or integrating ML-KEM, ML-DSA, or SLH-DSA.
- Experience with hybrid post-quantum/classical cryptography.
- Experience with crypto-agility or cryptographic migration programs.
- SBOM experience, particularly CycloneDX.
- Experience with dependency-graph and software-supply-chain tooling.
- Experience in financial services, banking, payments, government, defense, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience with security standards, audits, or regulated cybersecurity environments.
- Contributions to security-sensitive open-source projects.
Our Engineering Philosophy
At AegisQ, cryptographic security is not treated as a feature that is added after the software is built. It is part of the architecture.
We emphasize:
- Security by design
- Specification-driven implementation
- Test-first development
- Reproducible builds
- Rigorous peer review
- Cryptographic agility
- Secure key lifecycle management
- Software-supply-chain integrity
- Clear and auditable engineering practices
Why AegisQ
Quantum computing is changing the assumptions underlying today's public-key cryptography. Organizations need a practical path to prepare before cryptographically relevant quantum computing becomes a production reality.
AegisQ is building that path.
As a Cryptographic Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on technology intended to address one of the most significant emerging challenges in cybersecurity while contributing directly to products designed for real-world deployment.
If you are excited by difficult cryptographic engineering problems and want to help build the infrastructure for the post-quantum era, we would like to hear from you.
