CSSD Technician

Reporting To: Nurse Manager - OR

Position Summary:

• Maintain sterility integrity of the sterile packs.
• Responsible for the timely delivery of CSSD sets to wards and OR.
• Ensure the CSSD washer, disinfector and sterilizer are well maintained.
• Ensure strict infection control practice is in place.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Carry out the chemical and biological tests daily/ weekly.

2. Warm up the machines daily and perform the Bowle Dick test before sterilization of sets.

3. Check all parameters for sterilization are achieved.

4. Monitor and maintain record of each cycle.

5. Assist in the collection of soiled/ used instruments from respective wards/ departments.

6. Ensure proper recording and checking of sets and instrument received.

7. Ensure all sets are check for completeness as per checklist.

8. Maintain adequate inventory of sterile supplies.

9. Ensure timely distribution of clean sets.

10. Perform weekly instruments inventory.

11. Check the temperature and humidity of the sterile store daily and report to OR charge nurse when need arises.

12. Check weekly the shelf life/ expiry date of sterile sets/ items in the sterile store.

13. Participate in QA activities pertaining to CSSD.

14. Perform any other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Requirements:

• Minimum education SPM

• Minimum 2 years working in a CSSD related role

• Preferably have attended a certified course in Sterilization techniques

• Basic computer skill required

• Able to write and speak in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
