We are seeking a detail-oriented and qualified CSWIP Welding Inspector to join our Quality Control. In this role, you will oversee welding operations before, during, and after welding or installation. You will ensure all joint preparations, fit-ups, welding processes, non-destructive testing (NDT), pre-heat / PWHT and final documents conform to project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Welding Inspection
- Verify that parent materials, welding consumables, and equipment match project specifications and mill test certificates (MTCs).
- Confirm that Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) are valid and approved.
- Inspect joint preparation, bevel angles, alignment, root gaps, and cleanliness prior to welding.
2. In-Process Welding Inspection
- Monitor welding parameters (current, voltage, travel speed, heat input, shielding gas flow rate) against the approved WPS.
- Inspect pre-heat, interpass temperature, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) compliance.
- Check interpass cleaning, bead profile, and ensure freedom from visually detectable defects during multi-pass welding.
3. Post-Welding Inspection
- Conduct 100% visual inspection of completed welds to ensure compliance with acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations (RT, UT, MT, PT) carried out by qualified technicians.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and structural tolerances of fabricated components.
4. Quality Control & Documentation
- Generate daily inspection reports, punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Maintain and organize the Manufacturing Data Report (MDR) / Final Documentation Dossier.
- Witness destructive testing or welder qualification tests when required.
Requirements & Experience:
- Certification: Valid CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector (Level 2) minimum (CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector preferred).
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Fabrication Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of experience as a Quality Control / Welding Inspector in oil & gas, petrochemical, offshore, structural steel, or inspection sectors.
- Standards Knowledge: Working familiarity with international codes including ASME (Sec V, VIII, IX), AWS D1.1, ISO 5817, ISO 15614, and API 1104.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read engineering drawings, isometric drawings, and welding symbols, with a solid understanding of NDT methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).
