What they need
Chief Technology Officer
Digital asset and financial infrastructure company | New York City (Hybrid) | Reports to the CEO
The Role
We are an established financial infrastructure company and we still run with a startup's speed and ownership. We're looking for a CTO to lead an established technology team through a pivotal period. We run institutional-grade systems, and products with partner firms. You will own the full technology function: engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, enterprise IT, and the technology budget.
The job is to keep what's live stable and trusted while building the platform and team for what comes next. This is an executive role, but we want a leader who is close to the work, makes decisions quickly, and is comfortable with a small team and big responsibility.
What You'll Do
- Set direction and own investment. Turn business priorities into a technology roadmap, and own budget, vendors, and build-versus-buy decisions with a clear eye on cost and return.
- Lead through change. Align team structure, spend, and priorities with the business, and keep delivery and morale steady while the organization evolves.
- Be the technical voice externally. Represent our technology to investors, partners, auditors, and regulators, including technical diligence and multi-party integration.
- Deliver stability and growth together. Keep a 24/7 financial platform reliable and secure while shipping new capabilities and onboarding new clients and partners.
- Build the organization. Develop engineering and IT managers, set operating metrics, and hire and retain strong talent.
- Own technology risk. Hold accountability for cybersecurity, access controls, incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery, working with legal and compliance.
- Apply AI where it pays off. Identify a few high-value uses across engineering and operations, move them past pilots, and measure results.
What You Bring
- Senior technology leadership (CTO, Head of Technology, or VP Engineering) with full responsibility for team, budget, and delivery
- Blockchain or digital-asset platform experience
- Experience in banking or high-volume transactional environments such as electronic trading or payments
- A record of running mission-critical, always-on systems in regulated or control-heavy settings
- Comfort presenting technology strategy and risk to boards, investors, and regulators
- The ability to explain complex technical issues plainly and tie them to business outcomes
- An entrepreneurial, hands-on temperament: someone who thrives with lean teams and moves fast without cutting corners on control
Preferred
- Experience supporting a fundraise, financing, or strategic transaction
- Experience leading AI adoption, with measurable results
- Experience with multi-party or partner-built platforms
- Prior experience at a startup or scale-up
Compensation: Base salary of $275,000-$350,000, based on experience and qualifications, plus equity discussed during the process.
