Culinary Aide

Position Summary:

The Culinary Aide assists in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals for residents in accordance with Title 22 RCFE regulations, Terraza Court policies, and established nutritional and sanitation standards. The role supports the Culinary Department in creating a pleasant dining experience that promotes resident satisfaction, dignity, and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and plating of meals under the supervision of the Culinary Director or Cook.
• Serve meals promptly and courteously to residents in the dining room or in-room as needed.
• Follow posted menus, portion control, and diet orders for each resident.
• Maintain kitchen, dining, and dishwashing areas in a clean, sanitary, and organized condition.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and equipment according to health code standards.
• Label, date, and store food properly to ensure freshness and safety.
• Assist in receiving, unpacking, and rotating food and supply deliveries.
• Follow safe food handling practices and infection control policies at all times.
• Report any resident concerns, food preferences, or dietary changes to the Culinary Director.
• Assist with cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, and disposing of trash.
• Participate in fire drills, emergency preparedness, and safety training.
• Adhere to Terraza Court conduct, attendance, and dress code policies.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting, is preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation (Food Handler’s Card required).
• Ability to read, write, and follow written or verbal instructions in English.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and work continuously for up to 8 hours.
• Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
• Tolerate temperature changes in kitchen and dishwashing areas.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to hot surfaces, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
• Frequent interaction with residents, families, and staff in dining areas.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
