Culinary Trainee (INTERNSHIP)

About the role

The Culinary Intern assists the kitchen team in daily food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations while gaining hands-on experience in a professional culinary environment. The intern will learn food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, kitchen organization, and teamwork within hotel kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
• Support kitchen operations during food production and service periods.
• Prepare mise en place according to recipes and chef instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies using FIFO procedures.
• Learn and apply standard cooking techniques and presentation standards.
• Participate in kitchen briefings, training sessions, and team activities.
• Report any equipment issues, safety hazards, or food quality concerns to supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the culinary leadership team.

About you

• Currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Food Service, or related field.
• Passion for culinary arts and food preparation.
• Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Positive attitude, discipline, and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible schedules.
