ABOUT BLOM INC

A vertically integrated craft cannabis brand in Minnesota

Blom Inc is a vertically integrated craft cannabis brand based in Chaska, Minnesota, southwest of Minneapolis in the Twin Cities metro. Blom is rooted in engineering and Nordic heritage. Its name is derived from the Old Norse word for flower, Blom. Every product is designed, cultivated, and produced with a focus on consistency, quality, and control from seed to sale.

We hold one of a small number of mezzobusiness licenses in the state, which authorizes us to cultivate, manufacture, and operate up to three retail dispensaries under a single license. Our facility is 42k SF with 15k SF of indoor flowering canopy. We are in active buildout of the first 4,200 SF of plant canopy, with first harvest targeted for early 2027.

Our positioning is craft, precision, and innovation. Quality that holds up against any mature market. We grow it, we manufacture it, we sell it.

Minnesota’s adult-use market launched in September 2025. Dispensaries across the state are reporting supply shortages. We intend to be a meaningful solution to that problem while building one of the state’s most respected cannabis brands.

THE ROLE

Build the room. Run the crop. Grow the team.

You are the second cultivation hire at Blom and the first person on the floor every day. Reporting to the Director of Cultivation, you help create the methodology for Cultivation and make it real: plants in the medium, irrigation dialed, environment holding, IPM scouted, every tag and record clean.

This is not a role where you inherit a running operation and keep it running. You are here at first canopy. The SOPs you help write and pressure-test become the standard the whole facility trains against. As we scale from 4,200 sq ft to 15,000 sq ft, this position is the natural path into department leadership.

We want someone who has done the work, has opinions about how it should be done, and is ready to own outcomes instead of tasks.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Responsibilities

Team Direction and Daily Assignment

Train and supervise cultivation technicians as the team grows. Assign daily work, verify quality against SOP, and build the bench that lets this operation scale. Interview candidates for cultivation roles and make hiring recommendations that carry weight in the decision.

Daily Crop Execution

Oversee propagation, veg, flower, harvest, dry, and cure on the schedule. Direct and verify transplanting, defoliation, trellising, plant training, and selective pruning. Set the standard, assign it, and validate it.

Irrigation and Fertigation

Own nutrient mixing, EC and pH verification, runoff monitoring, and irrigation event scheduling. Catch drift before it shows up in the plant.

Environmental Control

Hold temperature, RH, VPD, CO₂, and lighting within spec across every zone. Identify the difference between a setpoint problem and an equipment problem, and escalate accordingly.

IPM Oversight

Scout every room, every day. Direct and verify preventative applications, biological releases, and sanitation protocols. Document everything.

SOP Development

Draft, test, and refine the written procedures alongside the Director of Cultivation. If a process only works when you are in the building, it is not finished.

Systems and Facility Readiness

Keep irrigation, dosing, lighting, HVAC, and dehumidification in working order in coordination with facilities. Manage inventory and reorder points for nutrients, media, containers, biologicals, and consumables.

Compliance and Records

Maintain plant tagging, batch records, waste manifests, and inventory reconciliation in Metrc under Minnesota OCM regulations. Keep the facility survey-ready and serve as an on-site point of contact during inspections.

Production Data

Track yield per square foot, cycle times, labor hours, shrink, and quality outcomes. Bring the numbers to the table and be able to discuss when we decide what changes next cycle.

Leadership Coverage

Run the cultivation operation in the Director's absence.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • 1+ year in commercial cannabis cultivation at regulated, licensed operations
  • Hands-on ownership of a room or a crop cycle, not task-level support
  • Working command of plant nutrition, irrigation and fertigation systems, lighting strategy, and environmental control in indoor production
  • Demonstrated IPM execution. Can identify pests and pathogens on sight and explain why a given intervention was chosen
  • Clear, disciplined documentation habits in a compliance-driven environment
  • At least 21 years of age as required by Minnesota law for work involving the handling of cannabis plants, and authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to satisfy all Minnesota OCM cannabis worker registration requirements
  • Availability to respond to facility emergencies outside standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Emergency response is a defined part of this role, not an exception

PREFERRED

  • 3+ years in commercial cannabis cultivation at a regulated, licensed operation
  • Minnesota commercial pesticide applicator certification, or willingness to obtain it. Blom will sponsor certification
  • Degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Seed-to-sale compliance experience. Metrc or equivalent state tracking system
  • Facility buildout, startup, or expansion experience. Has stood up a room rather than only inherited one
  • Team leadership experience. Has trained and supervised cultivation staff
  • Familiarity with environmental automation and fertigation platforms
  • New or emerging market experience. Comfortable with evolving regulations and early-market pressure
  • Working knowledge of harvest, dry, cure, and trim best practices

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

A physical job in a controlled production environment

  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, and fingers to manipulate plant material and small objects
  • Elevated temperature and humidity, high-intensity lighting, wet floors
  • Potential exposure to dust, pollen, plant pathogens, fertilizers, and crop protection products
