Custodian (4146)

Primary Responsibilities

• Empty wastebaskets and recycling containers, replace liners, and properly dispose of waste.
• Dust mop and wet mop tile floors, stair treads, and risers.
• Vacuum and spot-clean carpets and entrance mats.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, drinking fountains, high-touch surfaces, handrails, doorknobs, doorjambs, light switches, countertops, and other designated surfaces.
• Clean entrance glass, interior glass, and mirrors.
• Dust desktops, file cabinets, furniture, windowsills, and other horizontal surfaces.
• Damp wipe tables, counters, chair arms and legs, and other designated surfaces.
• Spot-clean upholstered furniture as needed.
• Sweep leaves, salt, dirt, and other debris from building entrances and surrounding areas.
• Empty entrance trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Maintain custodial closets, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition and in accordance with applicable building and fire codes.
• Follow assigned facility lock-up, access, and security procedures.
• Use cleaning products, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established safety procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or other facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor or management.
• Perform other janitorial and custodial duties as assigned and required by the scope of work or management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to perform routine janitorial and custodial duties safely and effectively.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to safely operate common custodial equipment and use cleaning supplies as instructed.
• Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner while working in an occupied facility.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Must comply with all company, facility, safety, and security policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods. The employee may be required to lift and carry cleaning supplies, equipment, and waste materials within the limits established by company and facility requirements.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors and may include exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, wet floors, and other conditions commonly associated with custodial work. Employees are expected to use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
