QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous custodial experience
• Previous custodial experience, including cleaning, sanitation, floor care, and safe use of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Required within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens
• Criminal background clearance within association standards
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
  the community.

• Primary work is performed at the YMCA’s new facility and annex location, with occasional duties at the YMCA’s multi-story downtown facility and Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp. Travel between sites may be required.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying environments and seasonal weather conditions.
• The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout the work environment.
• Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies and navigate uneven terrain when necessary.
• Will regularly handle cleaning products and other chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
• Requires sufficient strength, mobility, and vision to safely perform essential job duties.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is a leader in the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Custodian plays an essential role in supporting the YMCA's mission of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members, guests, staff, and volunteers. Reporting to the Director Assets, the Custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning, sanitation, and general upkeep of YMCA facilities and grounds. Using the knowledge of YMCA practices, policies and organization as related to all matters of the branch.

This position performs routine custodial and light maintenance duties, assists with preventive maintenance projects, supports facility operations, and helps ensure YMCA facilities consistently meet high standards for cleanliness, safety, and appearance. The Custodian demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service while modeling the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs routine cleaning and sanitation of restrooms, locker rooms, showers, drinking fountains, and common areas.
• Cleans and maintains floors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and related floor care.
• Cleans windows, glass, mirrors, counters, walls, doors, and other facility surfaces.
• Removes garbage and recyclables from facilities and transports materials to appropriate collection areas.
• Assists with routine facility upkeep, minor repairs, touch-up painting, and preventive maintenance tasks assigned.
• Assists with routine pool maintenance and related facility support activities.
• Maintains outdoor walkways, entrances, and surrounding areas through debris removal, sweeping, and seasonal snow removal.
• Reports maintenance, safety, security, and cleanliness concerns to supervisory staff.
• Follows established cleaning procedures, safety practices, and chemical handling requirements.
• Supports a safe, welcoming, and member-focused environment consistent with YMCA standards and values.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with room setups, special events, and facility projects.
• Maintains custodial equipment, tools, and supply areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Participates in required YMCA training and staff meetings.
• Supports emergency response procedures as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
