Custodian

Description

Performs janitorial/custodial maintenance of the Newaygo County Commission on Aging, public and administration areas, as well as the commercial kitchen.

Examples of Duties

• Under the direction of the COA Director, responsible for maintaining a clean work environment for staff and visitors.
• Responsible maintaining a clean environment in the commercial kitchen.
• Cleans building by emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning surfaces.
• Regularly cleans and disinfects sinks, faucets, urinals, stools, and other fixtures in restrooms.
• Restocks all restrooms with towels, tissue, and soap as needed.
• Cleans and disinfects windows, doors and glass partitions.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Conducts safety checks to ensure all doors and windows are locked and building is secure before departure.
• On a routine basis dust walls, ceilings, air vents, and light fixtures.

Typical Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Work independently within established procedures and policies.
• Must have the ability to work from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
