Custodian

Overview

This position is responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, repairs and daily opening of town-owned buildings and grounds (excluding those managed by the school system).

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Sweeping, mopping and polishing floors;
• Trash removal, disinfecting high touch surface, and restocking bathroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Assists in the set-up and breakdown of events in Town buildings. Responsible for general cleaning at the conclusion of events, leaving the space ready for use.
• Performs minor repairs to buildings, building systems and maintenance equipment. (e.g. carpentry, painting, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, etc)

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and experience maintaining buildings, grounds and mechanical equipment. Custodial experience in a commercial setting with demonstrated knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care procedures strongly preferred. Familiarity with and ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment along with basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical work highly desirable. Pay: $21.03 per hour
