Custodian

Job Description

The custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure the municipal building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. Applicant must have knowledge of cleaning in buildings or office and can work independently.

Skills and competencies

• Knowledge in the field for more than 1 year
• Knowledge of mopping and sweeping procedures
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
• Ability to work independently or in a team with minimum supervision
• Receptive to change – can adapt to changing circumstances.
• Respects diversity – treats other with respect and understands others – avoids unnecessary conflict

Working conditions

• Physical effort: Carrying supplies, reaching, bending, stretching, and climbing. Heavy lifting required for emptying mop buckets and throwing away garbage into dumpsters.
• Physical environments: exposures to noise, dirt and dust.
