What they need
We are an established custom cabinetry company working with homeowners, designers, and builders on high-end residential projects. We’re looking for a detail-oriented cabinet designer who can turn architectural plans and design ideas into accurate, thoughtfully developed cabinet drawings.
Our projects involve custom layouts, specialty details, and a wide range of materials and finishes. This position requires an understanding of cabinetry, strong CAD skills, and the ability to manage the details that bring a design through production and installation.
What you’ll do
- Read and interpret architectural plans, elevations, dimensions, and appliance specifications.
- Create and revise detailed CAD drawings for kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins, and other custom cabinetry.
- Develop cabinet layouts that consider function, proportions, clearances, and installation requirements.
- Work closely with the owner to translate design concepts into clear drawings for client approval and production.
- Track client selections, including cabinet colors, finishes, door styles, and hardware.
- Prepare hardware schedules and placement drawings to guide ordering and installation.
- Maintain organized project files, document revisions, and help keep project information current.
- Communicate with clients, designers, builders, and vendors to obtain specifications and resolve questions.
What we’re looking for
- Previous kitchen and bath or cabinet design experience, with a strong understanding of cabinet construction and layout.
- CAD proficiency and the ability to produce accurate, dimensioned drawings.
- Ability to confidently read architectural plans and identify missing or conflicting information.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage revisions and competing priorities across multiple projects.
- Clear, professional communication and a willingness to ask questions before making assumptions.
- Comfort using Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and shared digital project files.
Especially helpful
- Experience with high-end custom cabinetry, specialty built-ins, or residential millwork.
- Familiarity with appliance integration, decorative hardware, and cabinetry installation.
- Experience with KDC or 2020 Design. We primarily use KDC; training on our software and company processes is available for someone with a solid cabinet design foundation.
Position details
- Schedule: Full-time preferred; part-time considered for the right candidate.
- Work arrangement: Fully remote candidates welcome. For local candidates, a combination of remote and in-person work is preferred.
- Compensation: $22–$30 per hour, based on experience.
- Benefits: 401(k) and paid vacation and holidays.
To apply
Please send your résumé and examples of cabinet drawings or kitchen designs to [email protected]. Include a brief description of your cabinet design experience, the software you use, and your role in creating the submitted work.
