Custom Picture Framing Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all daily operations of the custom framing department
• Provide expert guidance to customers on framing options, materials, and design
• Oversee production workflow to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely completion of orders
• Train, supervise, and support framing staff
• Maintain inventory of moulding, matboard, glazing, hardware, and supplies
• Ensure proper handling, measuring, cutting, and assembly of artwork and materials
• Collaborate with gallery staff on special projects, installations, and custom orders
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve issues professionally
• Monitor job tickets, deadlines, and production schedules

Qualifications

• Previous experience in custom framing or art services (required)
• Leadership or management experience in a retail or production environment
• Strong knowledge of framing materials, tools, and equipment
• Ability to lift, measure, cut, and assemble framing components
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
• Experience with computerized mat cutters or production equipment
• Knowledge of conservation framing techniques
• Art gallery or art handling experience
