About the Role

We are looking for a Custom Software Engineering Lead with strong COBOL expertise to lead technical solutions and support the development and maintenance of enterprise legacy systems.

In this role, you will provide technical direction, collaborate with multiple teams, and ensure that software solutions meet standards for quality, scalability, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in COBOL and legacy systems
• Lead and collaborate with development teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Make and support key technical and team decisions
• Work with multiple teams and stakeholders to develop effective technical solutions
• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Provide solutions to technical issues across teams
• Facilitate effective communication and coordination among team members
• Mentor and support team members in their technical and professional development
• Monitor project progress and identify opportunities to improve delivery timelines and quality
• Ensure development practices follow established coding and software development standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on COBOL experience
• Expert proficiency in COBOL
• Strong understanding of legacy system integration and maintenance
• Experience in COBOL application performance tuning and optimization
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Familiarity with software development and coding best practices
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for COBOL programs
• Ability to analyze complex business requirements and convert them into technical solutions
• Strong communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills
