Customer Service

Are you hands-on, customer-focused, and experienced working with timber products? AWF is seeking a reliable and motivated Yard Person to join a busy timber and building supplies business in Hastings.

About the Role

This is a varied role that combines yard duties, customer service, order preparation, and sales support. You'll play an important role in ensuring customers receive excellent service while helping maintain an efficient and organised yard.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting customers with timber and building supply enquiries

• Serving trade and retail customers in a friendly and professional manner

• Preparing and picking customer orders accurately

• Loading and unloading timber products and materials

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised yard environment

• Providing product advice and sales support

• Stock handling and general yard duties as required

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working with timber or building supplies
• Good knowledge of timber products and their applications
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Sales experience or confidence in recommending products
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
• Reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented attitude
• Forklift licence is advantageous but not essential

Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand

Pre-Employment Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to:

Pass a pre-employment drug screen

Consent to and pass a Ministry of Justice criminal history check
