About Sanctuary Modern Kitchen

Sanctuary Modern Kitchen is a 100% Certified Gluten-Free bakery, market, and takeout restaurant located in Frederick, Maryland. Our entire facility is gluten-free, wheat-free, and nut-free, and we specialize in creating delicious food for customers with and without dietary restrictions.

Prior gluten-free or allergen knowledge is NOT required. Every new employee receives hands-on training during their first week to learn our allergen procedures, food-safety standards, menu, and facility protocols.

What we are looking for is someone who is friendly, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and genuinely enjoys helping people.

About the Position

We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to join our front-of-house team. This is a hands-on position that combines customer service, food preparation, cooking, order fulfillment, and general store operations.

You won’t just be standing behind a register. Our Customer Service Representatives help keep the entire store running smoothly while creating a welcoming experience for every customer who walks through our doors.

Responsibilities

A typical shift may include:

• Greeting customers and helping them navigate our menu and products
• Answering questions about products and dietary accommodations using our established allergen procedures
• Taking orders and operating our point-of-sale system
• Preparing and cooking made-to-order hot foods
• Frying, baking, assembling, and finishing customer orders
• Packaging takeout orders accurately
• Restocking bakery cases, freezers, retail areas, and supplies
• Preparing food and ingredients for service
• Maintaining food quality and presentation standards
• Keeping customer and food-preparation areas clean and organized
• Washing dishes and cleaning equipment as needed
• Completing opening, closing, and general cleaning responsibilities
• Assisting with additional store and production tasks as needed

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who can provide excellent customer service while also being comfortable jumping into food preparation and cooking.

The right person will be:

• Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with customers
• Dependable and punctual
• Able to work efficiently during busy periods
• Comfortable preparing and cooking food
• Able to follow recipes, procedures, and food-safety requirements
• Detail-oriented, especially when preparing orders for customers with dietary restrictions
• Comfortable learning and using a point-of-sale system
• Able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
• Self-motivated and willing to find the next task that needs to be completed
• A team player who is willing to help wherever needed

Previous restaurant, retail, or customer-service experience is not required. We are happy to train the right person who has a strong work ethic and is eager to learn.

Allergen Training

Because we are a Certified Gluten-Free facility, following our allergen and food-safety procedures is an important part of every position at Sanctuary Modern Kitchen.

However, you do not need any previous allergen or gluten-free experience to apply. We provide training during your first week and will teach you everything you need to know about our facility, products, procedures, and standards.
