What they need

Career Overview

We are looking for an energetic, customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our Mainfreight Transport team.

This is a fast-paced role where you will be an important connection between our customers and transport operations. You will help manage shipments from pickup through delivery, provide proactive updates, resolve service issues, and ensure our customers receive the high level of communication and service they expect.

At Mainfreight, customer service is about more than answering emails and phone calls. It’s about taking ownership, solving problems, building relationships, and working closely with our operations team to keep freight moving.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys transportation and logistics, thrives in a team environment, and wants to grow their career within the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional day-to-day customer service for Mainfreight customers.
  • Coordinate and monitor shipments from pickup through final delivery.
  • Provide customers with proactive updates regarding shipment status, pickups, deliveries, appointments, and any potential delays.
  • Respond to customer inquiries by phone and email in a professional, timely, and solutions-focused manner.
  • Work closely with dispatch, drivers, dock operations, sales, and other Mainfreight branches to ensure shipments move efficiently through our network.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information, customer instructions, appointments, and delivery requirements within our systems.
  • Investigate and help resolve service issues, including delayed freight, missed pickups or deliveries, damages, appointment requirements, and other transportation-related concerns.
  • Review shipment details and communicate any special handling, delivery, or customer requirements to the appropriate operational teams.
  • Build strong relationships with customers by understanding their business and identifying opportunities to improve their transportation experience.
  • Take ownership of customer concerns and follow through until an appropriate resolution is reached.
  • Support the Mainfreight team with general administrative and operational tasks as required.
  • Contribute to a positive, fast-paced team environment where customers and service come first.

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, trucking, or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with customers, drivers, and team members.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment where priorities can change throughout the day.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately manage shipment information and customer requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a willingness to take ownership and find solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments, customer requests, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills.
  • Transportation knowledge, including pickups, deliveries, appointments, transit times, and freight requirements, is an asset.
  • Positive, energetic attitude with a strong customer-first mentality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking individual ownership of responsibilities.

Why Join Mainfreight Transport?

This role is an opportunity to become part of a team that takes pride in moving freight, solving problems, and building long-term relationships with our customers.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn the transportation business, take ownership of their work, and grow alongside the team. If you enjoy a busy environment, working with people, and seeing the direct impact of the service you provide, we’d love to hear from you.
