Customs & Compliance Officer

Responsibilities

• Manage all customs-related activities, ensuring compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations.
• Oversee Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) operations, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare and maintain customs declarations, duty exemption records, and audit documentation.
• Liaise with Royal Malaysian Customs Department and relevant government authorities.
• Process and manage applications for Certificate of Origin (COO), Preferential COO, and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) documentation.
• Coordinate MITI applications, permits, and approvals related to import and export activities.
• Review and verify shipping documentation including Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Air Waybill, HS Codes, and import/export permits.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, logistics providers, and suppliers to ensure smooth customs clearance.
• Monitor shipment status and resolve customs clearance issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate customs, import/export, and compliance records.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in customs, import/export, logistics, or trade compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW), Certificate of Origin (COO), MITI applications and permits, Malaysian Customs procedures, and Import & Export documentation.
• Familiar with HS Code classification, tariff regulations, and duty exemption processes.
• Experience dealing with government authorities and customs audits.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Good command of English. Mandarin is an added advantage for coordination with international suppliers and customers.
• Experience in a manufacturing or export-oriented company (preferred).
• Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and preferential trade schemes (preferred).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and customs declaration platforms (preferred).
