CUSTOMS ENTRY WRITER (EXPERIENCED)

CUSTOMS ENTRY WRITER & INSIDE SALES REP (EXPERIENCED)

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares customs entries for all import shipments to be submitted to and released from U.S. Customs in a timely manner.
• Reviews documents for accuracy and ensures that all entries are properly classified by using tools such as company profiles and Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS).
• Develop and maintain customer profiles based on client’s shipment history. Coordinate with clients to classify new merchandise according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
• Monitor, review, and respond to any Customs rejections, CF 28 Request for Information and other correspondence.
• Obtaining rate quotes from various inland carriers, arranging delivery and/or pick up of goods with carriers; tracking, tracing, and updating the status of shipments to ensure a timely delivery.
• Create invoices for duty and entry charges to be sent to the Billing Department.
• Prospect, present, and close new business by calling potential new individual importers and freight forwarders.
• Training of inexperienced entry writers and inside sales representatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, High school diploma or GED required.
• MUST have 3-5 years of Customs Writing experience.
• Ability to classify goods in the HTS and have an understanding of Customs regulations, protests, and binding rulings preferred.
• Working knowledge of ABI (Automated Broker Interface) system preferred.
• Must be detail oriented, thorough, and accurate.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environment.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills and phone etiquette.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Sales or customer service experience a plus.
• Second languages are a plus.
