CUT SAW OPERATOR I

1st Shift

SUMMARY

The Cut Saw Operator 1 at Hi Tech Honeycomb is an entry-level role designed for learning and growth. This position offers the opportunity to master the operation of a large and small saw and gain valuable skills in the production of honeycomb materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This role involves learning under the guidance of the Production Supervisor/Mentor, with responsibilities outlined as follows. Additional tasks may be given to enhance learning and skill development as required. Duties must be performed under the supervision of the Mentor until competence is displayed.

 

• Understand and follow Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals. As well as, following procedures outlined in the General Shop Instructions and Operation of Small Cut Saw procedure.
• Understand and follow safety procedures such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understand and follow the Traveler and the sketch for instructions.
• Understand Honeycomb Specifications to customer requirements.
• Introduction to Tooling - Check tools in and out of the Tool Room, learn and use caliper, check templates, dial gauge to check length of honeycomb, protractor, and pin gauge.
• Understand and follow Calibration labels and compliance for tools.
• Use ERP (M1) to accurately clock in/out of operations/tasks assigned, including but not limited to review and escalate SFE Messages to leads/supervisors.
• Learn to check honeycomb parts for nonconformance.
• Cut regular jobs with Square End cut and greater than .020” tolerance.
• Work under Operator II or Operator III supervision and escalate issues as needed.
• Introduction to basic set up of the Small Cut Saw machine.
• Introduction to Rework, specific to cut saw area.
• Follow housekeeping practices.
• Other duties as needed

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Manufacturing experience is preferred. 

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide is required.

• REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and apply common sense to carry out instructions written in oral, or diagram form.

PREFERRED SKILLS                           

Experience with calipers, protractors, and inspection tools/equipment.

Familiarity with travelers and sketches.

Familiarity with calibration labels for tools
