What they need

Position: Cutting Department Associate

We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented Cutting Department Associate to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating laser cutters, CNC routers, and other cutting tools to produce high-quality products while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and safety standards.

We are looking for someone who doesn’t simply want to operate machines, but wants to take ownership of their department and play an active role in its success. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, identifies opportunities for improvement, keeps their workspace organized, and takes initiative to solve problems rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain laser cutting equipment.
  • Program, set up, and run jobs using LightBurn and EnRoute software.
  • Operate CNC routers and other cutting equipment.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and production specifications.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Measure and inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe cutting department.
  • Identify production issues and take initiative to find solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiency, quality, organization, and overall department performance.
  • Take responsibility for the condition, organization, and productivity of the cutting department.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Taking Ownership

We strongly encourage our employees to take ownership of their departments. This means taking pride in the work area, equipment, quality of production, organization, and overall performance of the department.

The right candidate will:

  • Take initiative without always needing direction.
  • Identify problems before they become larger issues.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Look for ways to improve processes and productivity.
  • Hold themselves and their work to a high standard.
  • Take responsibility for mistakes and work toward solutions.
  • Help create a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Treat the department as an area they are responsible for and take pride in its success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating laser cutters, CNC routers, or similar cutting equipment.
  • Experience with general cutting tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read measurements and technical drawings accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic machine and production issues.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience cutting acrylic, wood, plastics, metals, and other sheet materials.
  • Basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
  • Experience with LightBurn and EnRoute software.
  • Familiarity with production environments and workflow processes.
  • Experience improving production processes or department organization.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • Full-time, stable employment.
  • Health Insurance
  • 401K
  • PTO
