C/VC++ Technical Architect – Remote Contract

InfoMagnus is looking for a highly experienced C/VC++ Technical Architect to join a team supporting the modernization of complex, mission-critical software systems.

This is a hands-on architecture and engineering role for someone who can design technical solutions while still writing production code, developing prototypes, reviewing code, and solving difficult technical problems.

What You’ll Do

• Define application and component architectures, interfaces, technical roadmaps, and modernization strategies
• Design, develop, and modernize native Windows applications using C and Microsoft Visual C++
• Work hands-on with Visual Studio, Windows APIs, multithreading, DLLs, memory/resource management, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization
• Architect and develop desktop applications using the Qt framework
• Design and implement OpenGL rendering and visualization systems
• Establish application integration, testing, diagnostics, verification, and release strategies
• Create architecture documentation, UML/component diagrams, sequence diagrams, and architectural decision records
• Lead design reviews and evaluate technical tools, frameworks, and architectural trade-offs
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across implementation teams
• Work within controlled development, configuration management, cybersecurity, verification, and release processes

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Senior-level experience in C / Microsoft Visual C++
• Strong native Windows application development experience
• Must have professional level English speaking skills
• Experience architecting complex software systems
• Strong Qt development and architecture experience
• Experience with OpenGL and graphics/visualization systems
• Strong understanding of multithreading, performance optimization, debugging, and component architecture
• Ability to remain hands-on and contribute production C/VC++ code
• Experience working with complex brownfield/legacy systems and modernization
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Aerospace or other regulated software environments
• Defense, transportation, medical devices, automotive, or industrial controls
• Requirements traceability, configuration management, verification/qualification, cybersecurity reviews, and controlled releases
• Experience maintaining and modernizing long-lived production systems
• Experience balancing modernization with compatibility, stability, and long-term maintainability
