SALARY: $75,000 – $100,000 per year

ABOUT THE ROLE

GoodJobIT is recruiting on behalf of a client organization in the Ottawa region for a Cyber Security Analyst to join their growing security operations team. The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day security monitoring, threat detection, incident investigation, and supporting the organization's overall cybersecurity posture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor security alerts and events across SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, including phishing, malware, and unauthorized access attempts.
• Support firewall configuration changes and vulnerability management activities.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans and track remediation progress.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with security frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001.
• Document security incidents, investigations, procedures, and response activities.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams on system hardening and access management.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours incident response.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT security.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Understanding of core network security principles and common cybersecurity attack vectors.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Security certification such as Security+, CySA+, or similar is an asset.
• Bilingual English/French is an asset for candidates in the National Capital Region.
