Position Overview

Chitra Productions, LLC is seeking experienced Cyberspace Operator (CO) Range Engineers to support the U.S. Army Cyber School's Cyber Operations – Procedures (ACO-P) course at Fort Gordon, GA.

This position is responsible for designing, building, deploying, testing, and maintaining complex virtual cyber range environments used to support offensive and defensive cyberspace operations training. The Range Engineer will develop realistic, mission-focused training environments, integrate cybersecurity tools and technologies, and provide technical support throughout course execution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, virtualization, infrastructure automation, cybersecurity tools, and cyber range operations, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and adapt to evolving training requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect complex computer networks and systems within cyber range environments to simulate realistic operational scenarios for military training.
  • Build, configure, deploy, and maintain virtual and physical infrastructure, including servers, switches, networking components, and virtualization platforms.
  • Integrate cybersecurity tools, traffic generators, and simulation software to support realistic offensive and defensive cyberspace operations training.
  • Test and validate cyber range environments through vulnerability assessments, scenario simulations, and system testing to ensure alignment with training objectives.
  • Collaborate with instructors, government personnel, and exercise sponsors to identify technical requirements and develop training environments tailored to specific courses and exercises.
  • Configure, execute, and sustain cyber training events by monitoring live operations, managing range configurations, and providing real-time technical support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, virtualization, and network issues to minimize disruptions during training.
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and security configurations to optimize range efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, including software updates, security patches, system resets, and reconfiguration of training environments between courses.
  • Develop and implement automated deployment and configuration processes using scripting languages, infrastructure-as-code tools, and orchestration technologies.
  • Support the integration and management of containerized environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Analyze cyber range performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement technical enhancements to support effective course delivery.
  • Maintain technical documentation, configurations, and operational procedures for cyber range environments.
  • Revise and update training materials in accordance with T2COM's three-year review cycle and evolving U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) cyber readiness requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required, with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Previous successful experience serving as a Range Engineer for the Army Cyber Operations – Procedures (ACO-P) course.

Candidates without previous ACO-P Range Engineer experience must possess the following qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies or virtualization platforms such as VMware.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Batch, or Python.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with networking and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or STEP.
  • Experience using cybersecurity tools, network configurations, and operational technologies.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, application behaviors, and network traffic analysis.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced technical environments with changing customer requirements and operational priorities.
  • Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies, red team operations, or offensive cybersecurity concepts.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with military instructors, government personnel, and technical teams.
  • Ability to work on-site at Fort Gordon, GA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience designing, developing, or maintaining cyber ranges or military cyber training environments.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army Cyber School courses, cyber mission forces, or Department of Defense cyber training programs.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience developing realistic offensive and defensive cyberspace operations scenarios.
  • Familiarity with penetration testing tools, adversary emulation, red team operations, and network security assessments.
  • Experience supporting live cyber training events, exercises, or simulation-based instruction.
  • Knowledge of Army and Joint cyberspace operations doctrine and USCYBERCOM cyber readiness requirements.
