What they need

Dance Instructor & Choreographer

Empower by Bella Ballet | Part-Time | $25–$45/hour | Paid Training

Can You Teach the Dancer, Not Just the Dance?

Empower by Bella Ballet is seeking technically strong, confident, and inspiring dance educators and choreographers to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 season.

We are looking for more than someone who can demonstrate combinations or teach choreography. Our educators must be able to command a classroom with warmth and confidence, recognize what individual dancers need, provide meaningful technical corrections, manage different personalities and ability levels, and challenge students to grow.

Our students range from recreational dancers discovering a new style to experienced dancers advancing their technique, artistry, confidence, and performance quality.

Great dancing matters here. Great teaching matters even more.

We are recruiting instructors with expertise in one or more of the following:

Ballet • Jazz • Contemporary • Hip-Hop • Tap • Musical Theatre • Leaps & Turns / Technique

You do not need to teach every style. We would rather hire an exceptional educator with true expertise in one or two disciplines than someone who simply checks every box.

Strong candidates demonstrate:

  • Strong technical training and expertise in their specific dance style(s)
  • Experience teaching pre-teen and/or teen dancers
  • Confident, positive classroom management
  • Ability to teach progressive technique—not simply combinations
  • Strong musicality and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify technical needs and provide clear, actionable corrections
  • Age-appropriate choreography experience
  • Ability to challenge advanced dancers while supporting developing students
  • A polished, engaging, and professional teaching presence
  • Reliability, consistency, and strong communication
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and leadership
  • Willingness to receive feedback and continue developing as an educator

Formal degrees in dance are welcomed but not required. Professional, collegiate, competitive, conservatory, studio, and other substantial dance backgrounds will be considered.

What Teaching at Empower Looks Like

Our faculty create classes that are structured, intentional, technically sound, and engaging. Depending on your role and specialty, you may:

  • Lead recreational and/or advanced dance classes
  • Teach progressive, age-appropriate technique
  • Develop strength, flexibility, musicality, artistry, and performance quality
  • Create purposeful exercises within our curriculum framework
  • Provide meaningful individual and group corrections
  • Adapt instruction for different learning styles and technical levels
  • Establish clear expectations and confidently manage the classroom
  • Choreograph age-appropriate recital and performance pieces
  • Prepare dancers for performances throughout the season
  • Build positive student relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Collaborate with faculty and studio leadership
  • Participate in paid training and ongoing faculty development
  • Communicate consistently through studio communication channels
  • Help maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming studio environment

More Than Technique

Empower by Bella Ballet was created to give pre-teen and teen dancers a place where serious dance education and personal empowerment exist together.

We believe dancers should be challenged. Strong technique requires discipline, repetition, accountability, hard work, and meaningful corrections—but none of those things require sacrificing a dancer's confidence or individuality.

Our faculty intentionally reinforce confidence, leadership, resilience, kindness, inclusivity, positive body image, and respect while developing dancers technically and artistically.

We want our students to leave class knowing what they need to improve and believing they are capable of improving it.

You may be a great fit if you are the teacher who:

  • Notices the dancer in the back who has quietly stopped trying
  • Can explain a correction differently until it finally clicks
  • Knows when a class needs more structure and when a dancer needs encouragement
  • Creates choreography that highlights the dancers, not simply the choreographer
  • Establishes authority without relying on intimidation
  • Holds students accountable because you believe in their potential
  • Comes prepared and understands that consistency matters
  • Wants to contribute to a collaborative faculty and studio community

Before You Apply

We take teaching seriously because our dancers take what happens in the studio with them long after class ends.

We aren't looking for faculty who simply want another class on their schedule. We are looking for educators who want to develop dancers—technically, artistically, and personally.

If you believe dancers can receive excellent technical training in an environment that builds rather than breaks confidence, we want to hear from you.

To Apply

Please submit your résumé and application, including:

  • Primary dance style(s) and areas of technical expertise
  • Ages and levels you have experience teaching
  • Choreography experience
  • Exact recurring availability for September–June
  • Saturday and/or Sunday availability
  • A brief response to:

What is the difference between being a great dancer and being a great dance teacher?
