Data Analyst

Senior Data Analytics & AI Consultant | Tokyo | Long-term Contract

NP Group is supporting a major global pharmaceutical organisation looking to appoint an experienced Data Analytics and AI professional for a long-term assignment in Tokyo.

This is a senior, business-facing role sitting at the intersection of Data Analytics, AI and commercial strategy. You will work closely with the Japan business and international Data, AI and Technology teams, helping translate business requirements into analytics and AI solutions that can be successfully deployed, adopted and scaled.

The position is not purely a hands-on Data Scientist role. A significant part of the assignment involves understanding business challenges, working with senior stakeholders, assessing data and analytics requirements, coordinating pilots and helping move successful solutions into wider production and adoption.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with business stakeholders to identify and prioritise analytics and AI opportunities
• Translating business requirements into clear analytical and technical requirements
• Supporting the development, deployment and scaling of Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning solutions
• Working with Data Science, Data Engineering and Technology teams across international and local environments
• Supporting Generative AI use cases, including prompt and workflow design, evaluation and adoption
• Using data to provide actionable business insights, including exploratory analysis, segmentation, forecasting and experimentation
• Coordinating pilots and supporting solutions through implementation and scale-up
• Driving stakeholder engagement, adoption and change across the business
• Working with data platforms and ontologies, with Palantir Foundry experience particularly valuable

We are looking for:

• Master's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or a closely related discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence or a related area
• Strong understanding of Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical or AI solutions
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working across international or matrix organisations
• Experience taking analytics or AI solutions beyond proof of concept into implementation and adoption
• Fluent professional Japanese and English
• Ability to work onsite in Tokyo approximately 3 days per week

Experience with Generative AI, prompt engineering, RAG or similar technologies would be highly valuable.

Palantir Foundry experience would also be particularly interesting, although it is not essential.

Previous pharmaceutical, healthcare or life sciences experience would be advantageous but is not required.
