What they need
Role Summary
The Data Analyst will support the deployment of Carnot’s AI optimisation and fault detection solutions in commercial and other types of buildings. The role focuses on integrating our platform with existing Building Management Systems (BMS) and other onsite systems including IoT, coordinating site works, resolving technical issues, and managing projects to successful delivery. The engineer will work closely with clients, BMS vendors, internal data/AI teams, and FM/maintenance partners.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Plan and execute AI optimisation deployment projects from kickoff to handover, following agreed scope, timeline, and budget.
- Coordinate with client representatives, BMS vendors, IT teams, and maintenance contractors to prepare site access, point lists, and integration requirements.
- Track project progress, risks, and issues; propose and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule.
BMS Integration & Technical Implementation
- Review BMS architectures, drawings, and point schedules to define data integration scope and priorities.
- Work with BMS vendors to establish communications (e.g. BACnet/IP, Modbus, APIs) and ensure that required data points are available, reliable, and correctly mapped into the AI platform.
- Validate data quality (trends, units, naming, sampling intervals) and coordinate remediation of missing or faulty points.
- Support configuration of control strategies and setpoint changes recommended by the AI system, in collaboration with BMS engineers and client FM teams.
Site Work & Commissioning Support
- Conduct site visits as required to:
- Verify physical systems (HVAC, chiller plant, refrigeration, sensors) against documentation.
- Witness or perform functional tests related to AI optimisation (e.g. setpoint resets, sequence checks).
- Support commissioning and fine tuning of control changes to ensure stable, safe operation.
- Document findings, punch lists, and commissioning results, and feed them back into the project team and platform configuration.
Client Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare technical reports and presentations showing project status, issues, and performance results (e.g. energy savings, comfort metrics, fault reduction).
- Present AI optimisation outcomes to clients, explaining changes in control strategies and system behaviour in clear, non jargon terms.
- Collect client feedback on performance, usability, and operational constraints and incorporate it into subsequent iterations.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate anomalies raised by the AI platform (e.g. unexpected control behaviour, inconsistent data, unstable setpoints) and coordinate with BMS/maintenance teams to identify root causes.
- Propose practical solutions that balance energy efficiency, system reliability, indoor comfort, and client risk appetite.
- Work with internal data science and product teams to refine analytics, rules, and dashboards based on real world project experience.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or higher diploma in Mechanical, Building Services, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
- Knowledgeable in building services, HVAC, BMS, or energy management projects will be an advantage (no experience candidates will also be considered).
- Knowledgeable in networks and data integration (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, IP networks) will also be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose technical issues using both field observations and data trends.
- Good management discipline: planning, task tracking, risk management, and clear documentation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interface confidently with clients and vendors.
- Comfortable working on active sites (plant rooms, rooftops, retail environments) and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn AI/analytics concepts and translate AI recommendations into practical engineering actions.

Other Details
- Candidates with a strong interest in driving efficiency improvements and contributing meaningfully to the industry will be highly preferred.
- Work pattern: Mix of office work, remote work, and regular site visits across clients’ portfolio.
- Occasional off hours or night work may be required for system cutovers or critical commissioning activities.
