Data Analyst – Power BI / DAX / SQL

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and commercially minded Data Analyst to join our growing e-commerce business.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of data reporting and analytics, make a meaningful impact, and help shape how the business uses data to make better decisions.

Working closely with the Head of Data & FP&A, you will partner with teams across Commercial, Finance, Marketing, and other areas of the business to develop reliable reporting, uncover meaningful insights, and turn data into clear recommendations.

We are looking for someone who can go beyond producing reports and dashboards. You will be expected to understand the story behind the numbers, identify trends and patterns, challenge assumptions, and communicate insights clearly to help the business improve performance and drive growth.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI & Reporting
● Own, manage, maintain, and continuously improve the Power BI reporting environment.
● Develop, optimise, and maintain dashboards and reports used across the business.
● Build new reports and dashboards based on business requirements and evolving priorities.
● Create clear, interactive, and user-friendly data visualisations that communicate key findings effectively.
● Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, reliable, and aligned with agreed business definitions and KPIs.
● Monitor report performance and identify opportunities to improve dashboard efficiency and usability.
● Act as the internal Power BI subject-matter expert, supporting colleagues and stakeholders in making effective use of the platform.

Data Analysis & Insights
● Analyse data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and potential risks.
● Translate complex data into clear and actionable business insights.
● Develop and communicate the data narrative behind the numbers, helping stakeholders understand not only what is happening but why.
● Support Commercial, Finance, Marketing, and other teams with data-driven analysis and decision-making.
● Develop meaningful KPIs and reporting measures that support business objectives.
● Identify opportunities to improve business performance through data analysis.

Data Quality & Governance
● Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reporting.
● Investigate data discrepancies and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues.
● Ensure data sources, calculations, definitions, and reporting logic are documented and consistently applied.
● Work closely with our third-party data warehouse provider to ensure the database remains accurate, current, and fit for business requirements.
● Communicate required database, reporting, and data-model changes and ensure they are implemented effectively.

Process Improvement & Automation
● Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and data processes.
● Look for ways to improve reporting efficiency, reduce repetitive tasks, and minimise the risk of manual errors.
● Explore new tools, technologies, and approaches that can improve how the business collects, analyses, and uses data.
● Support the development of a more scalable and efficient data and reporting environment as the business continues to grow.

Stakeholder Management
● Work collaboratively with stakeholders across different functions to understand their reporting and analytical requirements.
● Translate business questions into appropriate data solutions and reporting outputs.
● Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
● Build strong relationships with stakeholders and proactively identify ways data can better support their teams.
● Manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and delivery.

Qualifications

Essential
● Proven experience working as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar analytical role.
● Strong proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, data modelling, and dashboard development.
● Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
● Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Experience working with complex datasets and identifying meaningful trends and insights.
● Ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations.
● Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
● Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Desirable
● Previous experience working within an e-commerce business is highly desirable.
● Understanding of ETL processes and data pipelines.
● Experience working with data warehouses.
● Experience integrating data from multiple systems and platforms.
● Experience with process automation or reporting automation.
● Understanding of commercial, financial, marketing, or e-commerce KPIs.
