What they need

Data Analyst - Wastewater Operations

Turn data into insight that improves essential water infrastructure

Purpose and scope of the role

Tetra Tech is seeking a Data Analyst to join its growing Wastewater Operations Team in Clevedon. You will analyse flow, rainfall and asset-monitoring data gathered by three-person field crews across wastewater networks, treatment works, reservoirs, dams and highways.

Working with project managers, field teams, hydraulic modellers, network engineers and clients, you will validate data, identify network trends and anomalies, and produce clear dashboards, charts and technical reports. You will support projects that help reduce leakage, flooding and pollution across the UK water industry. The role offers a salary of £28,074.

Your impact in this position

In the short term, you will provide accurate, timely analysis that supports effective project delivery and informed client decisions. Over time, you will develop expertise in wastewater networks, data quality and business intelligence, while contributing to increasingly complex digital and engineering projects.

With a personal development plan and transparent career pathway, you will have opportunities to build a long-term career within Tetra Tech, progressing into senior analytical, technical or project-focused roles.

Core Capabilities

  • Data analysis – Strong numerical and analytical skills, with experience working confidently with datasets using Excel, GIS or similar tools.
  • Data quality and insight – Ability to validate data, identify anomalies and trends, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Technical communication – Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to colleagues, clients and field teams.
  • Organisation and delivery – Excellent attention to detail, workload management and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Collaboration and adaptability – A positive, flexible approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, supporting site activities and responding effectively to changing priorities.

Skills, qualifications and experience

Expected: relevant experience in data analysis, reporting or a similar technical environment; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; strong organisational and problem-solving skills; and a willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.

Desirable: experience with GIS, Power BI, wastewater or environmental data, asset surveying, hydraulic modelling or quality assurance processes. Training will be provided where required.

Work patterns and locations

This role is based in Clevedon and involves regular travel to project locations. Flexible working may be available for data-focused activities, subject to project and client requirements. The role may include office, site and occasional remote working, as well as evenings, weekends and overtime.

You may work near highways, in confined spaces and in all weather conditions, including night work. The role involves moving heavy items, including inspection chamber covers. Mandatory drugs and alcohol testing and a DBS check apply.
