Data Analytics Specialist Trainee

Purpose of the role

To collect, clean, analyse, and visualise data to identify potential risks, assess compliance with regulations, and provide valuable insights to auditors.

Accountabilities

• Development and execution of data extraction strategies to gather relevant data from various sources, including internal systems, external databases, and third-party vendors.
• Analysis of data to identify potential risks and control weaknesses.
• Provision of data-driven insights and analysis to auditors throughout the audit process.
• Supporting the development and testing of audit procedures based on data analysis results.
• Implementation of data management processes to ensure data accessibility, security, and integrity.

Step into the role of a Data Analytics Specialist within Barclays Internal Audit (BIA), where you will use AI and analytics to transform data into meaningful insights and enhance audit outcomes. You will contribute to the development and implementation of AI-enabled solutions across BIA. Working closely with audit and Data Analytics teams, you will translate audit needs into analytics and AI-use cases, contributing to the design, testing and deploying of solutions for assurance work. You will also assess the reliability and quality of the AI-generated outputs, helping to deliver insightful, data-driven assurance.

Based in Singapore, you will partner with Internal Audit teams across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. As part of the global BIA Data Analytics Team, you will also collaborate regularly with colleagues in other regions, including the UK and US.

You should be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; and have a good working knowledge of Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and automation. A good understanding of modern AI development frameworks and architectures is desirable, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and LangGraph. Experience building, orchestrating, or evaluating GenAI applications and AI agent workflows would be advantageous.
